James co-founded Forsan Ventures in 2020 after 15 years as a practicing attorney. He began his career in corporate law, shepherding billions of dollars in transactions to successful completion. He left biglaw in 2010 to form Hunter & Kmiec, a litigation boutique wedding law and technology to recover insider trading profits for America's public investors. Leveraging proprietary analytics software, Hunter & Kmiec recovered millions of dollars in cases recognized for their innovation and sophistication.
James graduated from Harvard University summa cum laude in 2001, and from Yale Law School in 2004. He had the privilege of twice clerking for the Honorable Samuel A. Alito, Jr., first for then-Judge Alito on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and then for Justice Alito at the Supreme Court of the United States.
Robert co-founded Forsan Ventures in 2020 after 19 years in technology and investing. Previously he was cofounder and CTO of Spreecast, a video streaming company he started with the co-founder of StubHub. For the past ten years he has run a startup and investment tracker named FormDs.com that monitors SEC filings. More recently, he has been overhauling an ad serving platform for a large technology company. He started his career as a growth capital investor in Vietnam and later invested in public technology companies through a fund in San Francisco.
Robert has an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and graduated from Yale College. At Stanford he spent a year after graduation as a case writer, developing curriculum on leadership through interviewing leaders from companies and the military.
